Sasha Banks is heading to the Tokyo Dome.
Dave Meltzer of PWInsider confirmed a report from Mike Johnson on Saturday that Banks will appear at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 event on January 4th. Additionally, while WWE can still sign Banks, New Japan believes she will be free and clear. He will appear on the show on January 4.
“This deal is not on WWE’s side, so unless the appearance is legally prohibited by WWE, she will be a free agent that day.” Meltzer wrote. “WWE can still sign her but NJPW believes she is 1/4 free and clear.”
Banks has not appeared on WWE television since she and Naomi left a Raw event in May due to creative differences. WWE responded by stripping Banks and Naomi of the Women’s Tag Team Championships, and their status with WWE remains unclear. Both Banks and Naomi are still listed on the active roster on WWE.com.
NJPW won their first IWGP Women’s Championship last month, when KAIRI defeated Mayu Iwata to become the first champion at the NJPW x Stardom Historic X-Over.
